Open Level Routine

Classic Chorus Line

This is a classic style, playful chorus line routine, drawing inspiration from Mabel Lee, The Sepia Steppers, and Marie Bryant. We’ll be focusing on classic jazz steps, musicality and rhythms, and paying homage to the original chorus lines of the 1930s.

We’ll spend 12 weeks rehearsing, with a performance at Slow Dance Soiree in July.

Class Details:

  • Open Level: All are welcome, no audition required. Find out more about our levels here.

  • Chorus Line: This routine has feminine styling, both in dance movement and costuming. Find out more about our styles here.

  • $180 for 12 classes ($15 per class).

  • 12 weeks of rehearsals, Tuesday 7:00pm - 8:15pm, April 21 - July 7.

  • 1 performance, between  9:30pm - 10:30pm on Friday, July 10.

  • Rehearsal location: The Rose Room, 295 Gregory Street, Rochester NY

  • The costume will include dance heels and knee length skirts. Parts of the costume will be provided, other parts are required to be purchased by each dancer (see below).

  • Please note that this session needs 5 registrants in order to run. If that doesn’t happen, this session will be cancelled and any payments will be refunded in full.

Required Costume to Purchase:

  • Heeled character shoes

  • Leotard

  • Fishnet tights

  • Red lipstick

  • Guidelines for style and colors of these costume items will be provided before rehearsals begin!

Advanced Class

Vernacular Jazz Technique

In this special 4-week session, we’ll be focusing on developing our vernacular jazz technique. Working in the framework of basic moves we already know, we’ll dig into what makes certain moves work, focus on embodying groove, and refine our movement aesthetic.

This class will be tailored to those in the classroom, and is for intermediate to advanced level dancers.

Class Details:

  • Advanced Level: No audition required, but dancers should be confident in vernacular jazz basics. (For example: Open Level dancers who are regularly practicing outside of class; Audition Level dancers; dancers with confidence in vintage routines like the Tranky Doo, Big Apple, and Trickeration; or other similar experience.

  • $60 for 4 classes ($15 per class).

  • 4 weeks of classes, Thursday 7:00pm - 8:15pm, May 7 - May 28.

  • Rehearsal location: Highland Hall (3rd Floor Ballroom), 389 Gregory Street, Rochester NY

Audition Level - Thursdays

  • 6 weeks, Thursdays, 8:15pm-9:15pm

    Reprisal of an older routine (likely “Moonlight Savings Time”) and short new routine. Performance on September 26 at The Nocturne Club Fringe Festival show.

Private Lessons

Private lessons from Jasmine are available, regardless if you’ve taken a Reverie Chorus Line or Reverie Jazz Troupe class before or not! If you’re interested in private lessons, please get in touch so we can discuss what you’re looking for.

Pricing:

$75 per hour for instruction

$20-35 per hour for studio rental (depending on location)

Discounts are available for current Reverie Chorus Line or Reverie Jazz Troupe students.
